Art
Our Art curriculum aims for our children to be creative, thoughtful and reflective of the world around them. The thematic teaching of Art allows our children to explore different elements in a variety of ways, enabling them to make connections in their learning and therefore improve their cultural capital and sense of the world around them.
Reception Class have been learning about Harvest and after learning about the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo they used fruit and vegetables to create self portraits - can you guess who is who?
In Year 1 the children have been learning to mix the primary colours to make the secondary colours. Here is a collage of their own individual circles based on the work of Wassily Kandinsky. Thy also then used their knowledge of colour mixing when planning and creating their own print work. The children were inspired by the artist Andy Warhol which linked with their topic about toys from the past.
The children in Year 2 spent time building on their knowledge of colour mixing and explored how to create shades of one colour. They created their own Poppy artwork based on the artist Georgia O'Keeffe which were displayed in the windows of Huggins and Edwards to commemorate Remembrance Day.
They have also built on their knowledge of colour mixing and printing after being inspired by Roy Lichtenstein to create their own self portraits in a Pop Art style.
